Santa Claus digitizes his business with WEBCON

Santa Corp, global leader in spreading joy and Christmas cheer, is embracing digital transformation and adopting a platform that optimizes its core processes, including making and delivering Christmas gifts. This will enable Santa’s Factory to save tens of millions of hours. This could be a case study of improving operational efficiency of a global business or a Christmas movie script. We combine both ideas in our Christmas campaign.

The spot features a man in a suit walking through the halls of a mysterious building. He arrives at a room with a cozy fireplace and sits at a desk that acts as a control center. The screens display the Santa Corp logo, and after logging in to the system, he sees the progress of the Christmas preparations. On the main screen, there is a form with the last letter to Santa scanned, a photo of the child who authored it, the chosen gift, and the “Accept” button. He clicks and it’s done! The last gift approved by Santa Claus marks the end of the preparations for delivering gifts to children – from the operational perspective at least.

We humorously demonstrates how technology can enhance Christmas magic, and Santa Claus can rest assured that everything is going as planned.

Santa’s Factory and the entire gift delivery logistics need flawless management and organizational effectiveness. Like any savvy business owner, its president should aim to boost the efficiency of this endeavour by embracing digital transformation. We demonstrated the impact of automating business processes at Santa Corp with the WEBCON platform in our Christmas campaign, showing how technology and a little bit of magic can come together to deliver wonderful results” comments Joanna Banachowicz, Marketing Director of WEBCON.

In our Christmas spot, we demonstrates that digital transformation can happen in any business, even in a traditional and large-scale one like Santa’s Factory. The elves could save over 33 million hours by speeding up the gift wrapping process by even 1 minute, and the system could help eliminate the risk of losing children’s letters or shortages in the assortment.

Our low-code automation platform enables processes to be accelerated by even 87%, task execution to be managed effectively, documents to be handled electronically, and work progress to be monitored. All this ensures that the company runs smoothly – and in this case, Santa Claus – can rest easy. Because the best gift an entrepreneur can receive (not only) for Christmas is the assurance that the business is working well, and he and all the employees can have a peaceful and joyful time with their loved ones.

WEBCON at the conference Alignment of ICT Related Curricula With Labour Market Expectations

On October 12, 2023, the Krakow University of Economics hosted a conference entitled

Alignment of ICT Related Curricula With Labour Market Expectations.

The conference summarized the results of the ICAM project, which involved researchers from both the Krakow University of Economics (UEK) and the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) who aimed to align educational programs in information and communication technologies (ICT) with the expectations of the labor market.

During the conference, Aleksandra Słuszniak, Digital Transformation Director at WEBCON, presented on the topic of

Low-code process automation – changes in labour market trajectories.

During her lecture, Ola emphasized how Low-code platforms are expanding the IT job market to professionals with diverse educational backgrounds and work experience. She also highlighted that a well-designed and implemented process is the result of effective communication and cooperation between the business and IT departments (citizen-assisted development).

The presentation was guided by a quote from Forrester studies:

WEBCON MVP 2023: Recognizing the Most Active Members of the WEBCON Community

This is the second edition of the prestigious WEBCON MVP program, which aims to honor the most active members of the WEBCON community who contribute to the WEBCON Community by sharing their knowledge and experience with other users of the WEBCON BPS platform.

WEBCON MVPs are experts and enthusiasts who not only create innovative solutions with the help of WEBCON BPS but are also ready to share their knowledge and experience with the wider community of platform users – and beyond. Distinguished professionals contribute to the spread of product knowledge, support other members of the international community, create inspiring materials, and represent WEBCON at industry events held around the world.

We are very pleased to announce the group of WEBCON MVPs 2023/2024:

Björn Poller – During his apprenticeship as an IT business manager, Björn realized that the combination of IT and business management suited him well. During his subsequent studies as a media informatician, he expanded his knowledge in the areas of e-commerce and online marketing. As early as 2000, he began implementing digitalization projects using MS Access. Since the end of 2019, he has been implementing solutions with WEBCON BPS and is an enthusiastic advocate of the platform. He enjoys writing on LinkedIn about topics related to low-code in general and implementations in WEBCON BPS in particular.

Daniel Krüger – Starting as a NAV Developer in 2004, Daniel turned into a full-time SharePoint developer in 2010. Most projects were about creating new applications / digitalizing processes. There was always something not quite right, but this changed when he learned about WEBCON BPS in 2018. It marks the second time he changed his primary development platform to deliver faster and better results.

Dominik Cholewiński – He started his career as a developer. Then, moving through the roles of SQL and SharePoint administrator and DevOps Engineer, he developed in an increasingly business-oriented direction. This allowed him to combine multiple roles simultaneously: project manager, service manager, team leader, or simply coordinator (as needed). For 12 years now, his combination of technical and business skills has allowed him to successfully deliver business value directly at Südzucker, and indirectly to the company’s clients. The solutions he creates are largely delivered based on WEBCON BPS technology and its integration with the entire ecosystem.

Karol Częczek – He started working with the WEBCON BPS platform in 2013. He implemented the first workflows on version 7.7. During this time he had the opportunity to observe the development of the platform. He was responsible for and implemented workflows for many industries (education, retail, transportation, manufacturing). Currently, he has been involved in the construction sector for more than 3 years, developing applications with his team for the largest construction company in the country. Privately, he is passionate about audio equipment, specifically tube technology.

Markus Jenni – Markus developed an affinity for IT during his apprenticeship as an electronics technician and graduation as electronics engineer. He has been working for Nexplore AG, Thun, Switzerland since 1998; initially as a web developer, and later as a SharePoint developer. He has been implementing solutions with WEBCON BPS since 2017. Outside work, he enjoys endurance sports i.e. cycling, running, cross-country skiing.

Maksymilian Stachowiak – He had configured his first FREEBSD server before even starting high school. Since then, he has been deepening his knowledge in the IT field. He’s been professionally involved in programming and system integrations since he graduated with a degree in IT in 2020. He first got acquainted with WEBCON BPS in 2021 – and he’s been using the platform since then. As a hobby, he administers a private server (Linux) and tries to understand bits and bytes.

Raluca Lupu – Her career in programming began with a deep passion for web application development using C#. However, in 2020, she got acquainted with the world of low-code through WEBCON. This experience amplified her love for the profession, allowing me to provide faster and more efficient solutions to clients. With the help of the low-code platform, her desire to meet the needs of clients reached new heights.

Robert Ogierman – IT Project Coordinator at Raben Group since 2019. Prior to that, he had been working in consulting for 13 years (e.g. at Accenture) delivering projects for Fortune 500 companies (Oil Majors, NOCs, and leaders in the chemical and building materials industry), in more than a dozen countries on 3 continents (including USA, UAE, Ukraine). His business motto is “It is all about the people”. Privately, he is married and has two sons. Fishing, mountains, and volleyball enthusiast.

Congratulations!

Partner Day 2023: Celebrating the Bond of Partnership

Partner Day is the partner-only, all-day event for the WEBCON Partners community. This year’s event took place a day after WEBCON DAY 2023, on September 27th, and as always was dedicated to mutual inspiration. We’re so happy that we could again meet in person to share insights, experiences, and ideas with WEBCON’s international Partner Community!

Every year Partner Day creates a unique opportunity to meet top-class IT system integrators from around the world. Every member of this community works in a different market and represents an individual, specific to their region approach to business challenges organizations face today. That’s exactly why Partner Day is such a remarkable event!

Back on stage with WEBCON BPS news

Partner Day is always about sharing the best practices – this time was no different! We prepared 7 sessions concerning the most discussed areas related to digital transformation powered by WEBCON BPS and our plans for the future. What was on the agenda?

The first two sessions were solely dedicated to the further development of WEBCON and our plans for the future for both the company and our product – WEBCON BPS. We had Łukasz Wróbel, CBDO of WEBCON, share our vision and strategy for the product and the company for the upcoming years. He summarized everything important that has happened since the last Partner Day and gave an update on other key information our Partners are always interested in. After that, Mike Fitzmaurice, Chief Evangelist at WEBCON, gave our Partners a little sneak peek and let them know what lies ahead of product development in the near future.

Then it was time to talk about strategies, product highlights, and use cases. Mark Mulder, Senior Pre-Sales Consultant at WEBCON presented 7 functionalities that he thought weren’t demoed enough, but they definitely make a difference for the clients. Hugo Soares, Director of SDR WEBCON, shared the best practices for generating a long-term pipeline of projects. The last session was dedicated to the most interesting, unorthodox, quirky, and wonderful use cases! Our Partners named this session their favorite last year, so Michał Rykiert, Director of Business Development EMEA at WEBCON decided to redid it and again talk about the most interesting and inspiring cases that our Partners had delivered since the last Partner Day.

A day to remember!

It was a wonderful day! We are delighted to witness the constant growth of our Partner Channel community, where each member eagerly looks forward to meeting in person to exchange their ideas, expertise, and valuable insights with one another. And we honestly can’t wait to see all our Partners in person and in one place again next year!

The 9th edition of WEBCON DAY is behind us!

WEBCON DAY is Poland’s largest conference dedicated to digital transformation. The 9th edition of the event took place on September 26, and, just like every year, provided a unique forum for knowledge exchange, attracting digital transformation practitioners from Poland and abroad.

The conference was inaugurated by an opening session by WEBCON’s CEO and Founder. It was a solemn introduction to the rest of the event: in which WEBCON’s Clients and their success stories play a major role every year. Radoslaw Putek welcomed the guests and summarized the most important events of recent months. Thus, among other things, the information on the further development of the company (including the opening of a new office in Portugal), the increase in the number of users of the platform, and the further growth of the WEBCON Partner Channel. The CEO also noted the importance of one of the year’s most important events – WEBCON’s strengthening of its leader position in the prestigious Computerworld Top200 report.

A keynote session was held just afterward, during which Lukasz Wróbel. WEBCON’s CBDO pointed out that the purpose of his session and the annual meetings during WEBCON DAY is not to multiply more examples of workflows that can be easily created with WEBCON BPS. The idea behind the event is to inspire people to change the way they think about digital transformation – to start seeing it as the perfect blend of the right technology and an organizational culture that promotes change and collaboration.

Next on stage, Mike Fitzmaurice talked about how WEBCON technology can facilitate the implementation of change in an organization. WEBCON’s Chief Evangelist discussed the platform’s latest features, which will address today’s users’ needs for security in an innovative way. He also announced new features that will be implemented in the new version of the platform, WEBCON BPS 2024, summarizing the changes as broadening designer experience.

Success stories of the digital transformation leaders

Digital transformation isn’t just about IT – it’s also, and perhaps most importantly, about people. The next part of the conference, devoted to case studies of WEBCON Clients, began with this thought. “Digital transformation – the perfect combination of technology, people, and culture” was a presentation on the success story of PURO Hotels. Siren Knudsen, Head of Digital Transformation and IT presented the vision of digital transformation that the organization has put into practice. The speaker talked about preparing the company for the changes associated with digitization and implementing an MVP application development approach while engaging employees in the ongoing development of these solutions. The session was summarized from the technical side by a WEBCON expert, Adrian Baszak.

We learned about automating business processes in the banking industry during the next session. Marcin Małek, Director of the Implementation Department, and Michał Polak, Senior IT Project Manager, shared their story on how they developed a strategy for automating processes in an infrastructure-complex banking environment. Alior Bank’s session “The evolution of the digital transformation strategy in a secure banking environment” was devoted to the development of electronic services in an organization for which security is the top priority. In addressing a number of security-related regulations, the Alior Bank team was supported by the WEBCON BPS platform.

The technical nuances of the project were complemented by a technical session led by WEBCON Premium Partner Nexpertis, who was also responsible for the implementation of low-code technology at Alior Bank. Michał Borowski, CEO at Nexpertis, shared the implementation best practices that his team applied in their project for Alior Bank.

Can automation support an organization’s important values? The story presented during the next case study session proved that it definitely does. Adrian Pałka, Manager of the IT Department at Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV, talked about how digital transformation supports crucial for the company Japanese values and standards in developing its business. WEBCON DAY 2023 attendees learned how a properly organized IT department supports employees’ sense of empowerment and found out why low-code technology has proven to be the best solution for building custom applications at one of the world’s leading industrial automation companies. The Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV session was summarized by a WEBCON expert, Tomasz Pytlak.

After this session, experts discussed how to massively deliver business applications in an organization during a panel discussion. The panelists discussed whether it is possible to create a so-called “application factory” – and effectively respond to the high demand for business applications. They also debated how to successfully engage end-users in the process of creating new apps. Panelists, who took part in the discussion were Marcin Grotowski, Digital Solutions Delivery Manager at No Limit; Adrian Pałka, IT Manager at Mitsubishi Electric; and Rafal Gliński, Director of Digitalization and BIM at HOCHTIEF Poland.

After a networking break, during which conference participants could visit the Expert Zone, where our team and members of the WEBCON Community were waiting for their questions, another case study session began. “Solid foundations: how to create a reliable application infrastructure around an ERP system?” was the title of the session led by Justyna Kawa. The Director of Finance of Archicom S.A. talked about the role of a well-organized IT infrastructure in supporting an organization – not only in terms of its day-to-day operations but also at the time of growth and acquisition of new companies. The session covered the history of the purchase of Archicom by ECHO Investment and the process of integrating these two organizations. Part of this complicated process was the implementation of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system, which was completed within the expected time and budget, and the system itself was effectively expanded. Justyna Kawa explained why the decision to create an ecosystem of business applications around ERP with the help of a low-code platform was made and what benefits this approach brought to the organization.

The case study session was followed by the technical session led by Paweł Hołdak. CEO of BPMRIDERS, a WEBCON Partner responsible for the implementation of WEBCON BPS at ECHO Investment & Archicom, presented the solutions built on the platform and explained how low-code technology contributed to the success of this impressive project.

As the last panel of the day started, we came back to the initial topic of the day: how to successfully build a bridge between IT and business to create new solutions. Siren Knudsen, Head of Digital Transformation & IT at PURO Hotels, Monika Domitrz, Senior Manager at PwC and Thomas Dengler, Team Lead in Corporate Development Department, Josef Rädlinger Bauunternehmen talked about their experiences in involving non-technical employees in the process of app development.

WEBCON MVPs: the best of the best!

Continuing the tradition started at last year’s conference, the second part of the event began with a ceremony honoring the most active WEBCON BPS users who make exceptional contributions to spreading product knowledge, supporting other members of the international community, and creating inspiring materials on the use of low-code technology in practice.

WEBCON MVPs 2023 are: Daniel Krüger, Björn Poller, Markus Jenni, Robert Ogierman, Dominik Cholewiński, Raluca Lupu, Maksymilian Stachowiak and Karol Częczek.

It was a great opportunity to get first-hand information and discuss their ideas and challenges with those responsible for the development of the platform. Those wishing to do so were also able to talk to WEBCON Community members.

WEBCON DAY: how to transform your organization

WEBCON BPS 2023: The new platform release is officially here

The brand-new version of our low-code process platform is here! Learn more about what’s new in the WEBCON BP 2023 and empower your IT team with the best-in-class low-code process platform that transforms how organizations work and lets them take process automation to a whole new level.

Today’s companies have to be agile and always ready for change. In this fast-paced environment, they need a reliable, future-proof toolkit that will empower them to meet all of their needs and emerging challenges. That’s why our number one priority has always been our low-code platform’s ongoing development and improvement. And that’s why we release a new version of the WEBCON BPS every year – to make sure our clients and partners are equipped with the best toolset possible.

This year is no different and we’re thrilled to finally share with you WEBCON BPS 2023 R1. While working on this year’s version, we focused on enhancing support for the entire application lifecycle, business user involvement in the application development, processes that involve external business partners/users, and our use of the latest available technologies.

We’re pleased to share that the latest release – WEBCON BPS 2023 R2 (2023.1.2.44) is officially here! Here is a sneak peek of the most important changes:

1. Security code for public links that prevent unauthorized access for individuals who have accidentally received the link to an element or task.

2. Canceling performance indicator calculations allows even more accurate tracking of time spent on tasks, identifying potential bottlenecks and preventing them effectively.

3. Generating files in PDF/A format that support long-term document preservation for archival purposes, ensuring that these documents will remain openable in the future.

4. Changing the form/element signature allows users to replace the number with a readable and user-friendly name.

Here is an overview of the main new features and enhancements introduced in WEBCON BPS 2023 R1 (2023.1.1.41) which was released in May:

1. New Module: Advanced Analytics Framework

WEBCON BPS 2023 provides a new, advanced analytical module. It will allow for a quick comparative analysis of application usage. It will enable you to create process-specific performance indicators, too. You’ll be able to use the analytical information presented in this new module to make better resource allocation decisions and set better application development priorities.

2. Performance Indicators

Previously available Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) made it possible to determine the expected editing time and task completion time within individual process steps. The WEBCON BPS 2023 Advanced Analytics Framework module adds a new mechanism that enables you to define advanced performance indicators. More specifically:

  • they can be calculated on a set of tasks taking place over many process steps,
  • they can support advanced scenarios in which the counting of a KPI can be repeatedly interrupted and resumed,
  • they can factor in designated workdays and working hours.

3. Built-In Reports

Each application now has received a new Analysis area so you can quickly view:

  • the number of instances (processed forms/items) launched within the application – broken down into Active, Completed and All Instances,
  • the number of people who actively use the application,
  • number of active tasks assigned by the application,
  • the average task duration.

For applications with multiple processes and multiple document types, these analyzes are available at both the individual and aggregate levels. Thanks to the report, you can quickly determine the scale of usage for any given application.

4. Enhanced Business User Engagement

Version 2023 introduces completely new features to enhance even better cooperation between technology and business teams. They should have a strong positive effect on the pace of application delivery. Moreover, they should enhance the continuous improvement of applications without needing to increase the size of IT teams.

4. 1 Sharing Attachments via OneDrive

A later-year release of WEBCON BPS 2022 introduced the option to upload a document to a managed OneDrive area and maintain a connection to it. Doing this made it possible to make simultaneous edits to it from within its appropriate editing tool – assuming the document editor supports simultaneous editing.

4. 2 Sharing Forms & Tasks

WEBCON BPS 2023 introduces the option for an internal user to share a form with external users via a unique URL address generated by the system. External users invited this way do not have to authenticate themselves with the WEBCON BPS portal; their authorization is limited to the specific form from which the invitation was generated, and in accordance with the selected level of authorization.

5. Built-In Change Suggestions

Version 2023 introduces a new feature for collecting development suggestions for each application in a manner that’s fully integrated with the portal user interface. From now on, suggestions can be registered for almost any element of the application while working with that element. Suggestions can then be viewed, rated, and commented on by other app users.

6. Preview & Editing of Application Configurations from the Portal

Version 2023’s WEBCON Designer Desk users will let authorized users preview an application’s configuration/design from within the BPS portal environment. They’ll even be able to edit some of the application’s configuration elements. What’s important is that they’ll be able to do this whether or not the application was originally prototyped in Designer Desk.

Process Preview enables authorized stakeholders to, among other things, verify business rules, form design, the method of assigning tasks within workflow paths, automations, and configuration of the field matrix.

7. Improved forms

Version 2023 introduces several improvements to the functionality and performance of forms, a topic important to our customers, our partners, and ourselves. We have enabled, among others, changing the width of item list columns and optimizing the behavior of row-level action buttons. We have also introduced improvements to the information bar level, adding a new analysis tab that presents information about performance metrics – and this indeed includes the new performance metrics introduced with the Advanced Analytics Framework.
