What's New in WEBCON BPS 2023 R3
A Summary of the Key Features and Enhancements

We’re delighted to deliver Release 3 of WEBCON BPS 2023, our low-code platform for building and curating business process applications. WEBCON, as a rule, publishes major versions each year and ships updates to them each quarter. These quarterly releases are more than just bug fixes; we can and do use them to deliver incremental new and improved features, and this quarter is no exception.
What follows is a summary of the most significant changes to WEBCON BPS 2023 that we’ve delivered with Release 3. We think you’re going to like it.

New Mobile Application

The mobile apps for Android and IOS have been completely rewritten.
Its user experience is a lot more friendly, and it includes several new features as well:

Quick logon using
a PIN and/or biometrics

After logging on the traditional way (username/password), credentials can be cached and unlocked using the mobile device’s native biometric authentication support (e.g., facial recognition, fingerprint) and/or a PIN code. This will allow some level of additional security to participate in business processes (beyond simply unlocking one’s phone).

Mobile applications can, without needing to run in the background, receive push notifications (for tasks, status updates, etc.) from a WEBCON BPS server by way of the mobile platform’s native notification facility. Notifications can be custom-branded, too.

Trusted Devices
and Authorization via Mobile App

For any of several situations in which it’s important to know who is clicking a button, opening a form, etc., users can register their mobile devices and the WEBCON BPS app running on them as a trusted device for providing supplemental authentication.

for QR Codes

Users can scan QR codes and/or barcodes to launch new forms or open existing ones. They can also scan barcodes and/or QR codes to read values for filling in form fields.

Recording voice memos
and Photo Attachments

While it was previously possible to attach photos and other files to forms, the new WEBCON BPS mobile app lets users take photos directly inside a form. This is also true of audio recordings .

Geographical location registration and new context variables

Given that mobile and desktop devices alike have access to location information, Release 3 of WEBCON BPS 2023 supports making use of location data in several ways. The location where tasks were executed will become part of the automatically-maintained audit history for any form. Moreover, location data can be used to fill in form fields. Additionally, location data can be used as a security measure to determine whether a task can be performed or a new workflow can be started, for example.

Path transition authorization

When it’s important (if not required) to ensure exactly which user clicked which button to move the workflow along a path, Release 3 of WEBCON BPS 2023 can use the aforementioned trusted device-based authorization to ensure that the intended user (and not someone else sitting at their desk while a form just happens to be open) is the one who completes a task.

In summary

We look forward to seeing what our customers and partners do with these and other new/improved features introduced in this release. A complete list of all changes is available on WEBCON’s community website alongside the download link for Release 3.
