The rapid development of modern technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and big data has irrevocably changed the operational principles of modern businesses. In the era of Industry 4.0, digital and traditional technologies are being interwoven at an unprecedented scale. It’s only those companies that are able to embrace and implement these new technologies in their operations that have the chance to maintain continued growth and remain competitive in the market. In his latest article, Lukasz Wrobel, VP and CBDO at WEBCON, talks about IT trends to look out for in 2019 and what they mean for organizations that want to gain and retain competitive advantage in the digital era.
The 6th edition of WEBCON DAY was a truly international forum for sharing knowledge and experience among IT experts and business leaders. On October 3-4, 350 business process optimization leaders and practitioners from all around Europe came to Cracow to talk about the future of business in the digital era. The participants were also the first ones to see the premiere of WEBCON BPS 2019, the groundbreaking latest version of the premier business process management platform!
This year’s edition was dedicated to the practitioners who are actively implementing innovative solutions and lead their companies through the digital transformation. The first day of the conference focused on the latest trends and most disruptive technologies, case studies presented by long-time WEBCON BPS users and the unveiling of the new WEBCON BPS 2019.
The conference began with a keynote address by experts from WEBCON, who presented some insights on key business and IT trends and new WEBCON BPS 2019, addressing the new challenges. The premiere was met with great enthusiasm from the audience, who for the first time had a chance to see the platform’s new possibilities and functionalities. The most significant change in this version is the introduction of the Portal: a standardized collection of business applications (defined as a process or set of related processes to precisely fulfil business goals). A user-friendly and intuitive Digital Desktop with a largely improved search engine will allow for better task management, quick access to applications and the ability to design your own homepage.
Some of the more novel features that WEBCON BPS 2019 has to offer include practical use of AI, improved data collection mechanisms, business rules recommendations, further-reaching integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, support for SaaS, PaaS, and On Premise scenarios. As WEBCON President Radosław Putek underscored, even though the platform has undergone major changes, the priority remains to guarantee business continuity and ensuring a safe migration while updating the platform.
We’ve been working with market top brands for the past 12 years, and today we’re taking a game-changing step into the future together with the revolutionary new WEBCON BPS 2019. When creating new solutions, we are determined to add significant value to your business and improve the platform’s performance. We know that our clients are the community of Digital Leaders and we feel very honored they chose WEBCON BPS. – said Radosław Putek, President of WEBCON.
During the presentation, representatives of the Management Board also talked about the challenges they faced while developing WEBCON BPS:
“End-users’ expectations are getting higher. They want modern and intuitive tools that make their jobs easier. It’s a challenge for both in-house development teams and for us, so we are continuously searching for and developing innovative solutions to expand our functionalities. On the other hand, reacting to changes quickly and effectively adapting to new conditions is key for businesses to stay competitive, so remaining a low-code platform with InstantChange™ technology makes WEBCON BPS perfect for agile change management while remaining accessible and user-friendly. – said Łukasz Wróbel, CBDOand VP of WEBCON.
We also had a chance to hear case studies by long-time WEBCON BPS users. These included:
Tomasz Kszczot, CIO of Siemens Finance and Lukasz Boruta, Team Leader in the Development Division of Siemens Finance
Ryan Mugford, Regional CIO of ALD Automotive
Martin Meze, Strategic IT Project Manager, responsible for implementation at Diners Club
They shared stories about their beginnings with WEBCON BPS through to more advanced experiences like building in-house development teams delivering business applications for both supportive and core processes.
By 2030 we will have fully autonomous cars. Our market undergoes constant changes and we continuously adapt our business strategy to maintain competitive advantage. We are using WEBCON BPS to support those changes, and it has been a big difference maker that allows us to move much faster! – said Ryan Mugford, Regional CIO of ALD Automotive.
The second day of the conference was dominated by expert workshops, divided into three blocks: technical, new features and business scenarios. In total there were 13 workshops attended by 250 people. During these sessions, the WEBCON experts covered topics like: how to prepare for a migration from version 2017 to 2019, the new possibilities of WEBCON BPS 2019, and how the platform supports data privacy and security in light of the GDPR.
An expert zone, Q&A sessions and plenty opportunities to network with other business process optimization professionals from various industries also took place, and are becoming an ever more valuable part of the event.
We want to send a heartfelt thank all of our guests for taking part in this year’s edition of WEBCON DAY! We invite you to view the photos from the event, and we are looking forward to seeing you again next year!
